The qualifying stage of the All-Russian competition "Flaw Detection Technician" was held at "Power machines"

The Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod (LMZ), which is part of JSC "Power machines", held the first-ever qualifying stage of the All-Russian competition "Flaw Detection Technician – 2023"

The qualifying stage of the competition took place at LMZ over three days, taking into account the specifics of production and the workload of workers. During this time, participants performed theoretical and practical tests in two categories: "Radiographic Examination" and "Magnetic Particle Testing".

The jury involved experts from "Power machines" and the Certification Center of the North-West Attestation R&D Center Energomontazh. The representatives of the Committee for Labor and Employment of the Population of St. Petersburg, the St. Petersburg branch of OPORA RUSSIA, and the St. Petersburg State Pedagogical Educational Institution Automotive College also took part in the ceremony summing up the qualifying stage results.

Three winners were selected in each category. The first-place winners will participate in the final of the competition to be held on October 23-25 at the Moscow Expocentre Fairgrounds as part of the Russian Industrial Week and the X International Forum "NDT Territory. Non-destructive Testing. Tests. Diagnostics".

"The profession of a Flaw Detection Technician is one of the key ones in ensuring product quality. The significance of this work is hard to overestimate, given that there are no trifles in matters of quality. We produce powerful energy machines, for which ensuring reliable and uninterrupted operation is essential. The last competition showed that we have versed Flaw Detection Technicians who are highly qualified professionals. In addition to assessing the competition results, the event participants held a number of thematic discussions. In particular, issues of conformity assessment in the field of non-destructive testing, welding production, and related processes were raised; changes in regulatory and technical documentation in the field of radiographic testing were addressed. A separate round table was devoted to non-destructive testing and product quality issues at JSC "Power machines". The All-Russian competition “Flaw Detection Technician” was organized by the Russian Society for Non-Destructive Testing and Technical Diagnostics (RSNDTTD) with the support of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Rostekhnadzor, the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of the Russian Federation. The event is held among flaw detectors and non-destructive testing specialists having the necessary certification and declared production track record; its objectives are to increase the prestige and popularization of the profession of a non-destructive testing specialist, as well as improve the qualifications of flaw detectors and exchange experience.

In 2021, the Flaw Detection Technician profession was included in the List of the most important professions for the development of the Russian economy (approved by Order of the Government of the Russian Federation dated September 3, 2021 No. 2443-r).
