"Power machines" supported the "Filonov's School" exhibition in the Russian Museum

With the support of "Power machines" and other enterprises of Severgroup, the "Filonov's School" exhibition was inaugurated in the Marble Palace of the Russian Museum. This exhibition represents artworks by avant-garde artists, who were followers of the artist Pavel Filonov, for the first time.

The "Filonov's School" exhibition comprises approximately 120 paintings from the collections of the Russian Museum, the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg, the St. Petersburg Museum of Theater and Musical Art, and the Galeyev Gallery in Moscow. The exhibition is organized in the Marble Palace and will run from October 6, 2023 to January 22, 2024.

In the 1920s, Pavel Filonov, one of the leaders of the Russian avant-garde, proposed to change the entire system of art education. The basis of the training was to be the analytical art method he developed. Filonov wrote about the necessity of collective work among masters and pupils, defining the role of the school as a workshop of production.

The exhibition features works from the 1930s through the 1940s created by members of the "Masters of Analytical Art (MAI)" collective. Here are canvases from the exhibition in the House of the Press (1927), sketches of costumes and scenery for the play "The Inspector" (1927), illustrations for the Karelian-Finnish epic "Kalevala" (1932), which became the biggest success of Filonov's group, and other works by MAI.

For the first time, the works of Georgy Novikov, Praskovia Vajnova, Ksenia Livchak and Mikhail Makarov, acquired by the Russian Museum in recent decades, are exhibited as part of the Filonov School. The State Museum of the History provided Tatiana Glebova's designs for Richard Wagner's opera "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg" ("The Mastersingers of Nuremberg") (1931-1932), which rarely appear at exhibitions. The early Filonov-style paintings of the 1920s by Boris Gurvich and Yevgeny Kibrick from the collection of the Galeyev Gallery are also virtually unknown to viewers.

"Power machines" long-standing cooperation with the Russian Museum is one of the company's important social responsibility projects.
