Power Machines presented at the conference Scientific and Technical Aspects of the Application of Gas Turbine Units in the National Economy
On September 23-24, General Designer of JSC “Power machines” Alexander Ivanovsky spoke about the production of domestic power gas turbine units, the current status of the project, and its progress at the conference Scientific and Technical Aspects of the Application of Gas Turbine Units in the National Economy, organized by JSC VTI and the Commission for Gas Turbines of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The main goal of the project is to revive national schools in the fields of design and production of medium- and high-capacity power gas turbines, and its successful implementation will ensure technological independence for the Russian Federation due to the full development of the production of this type of equipment in the country, including the components for hot gas paths and control systems using a domestic element base that will eliminate dependence on imported services.
Within the project framework, Power Machines are working on creating two types of gas turbines: the GTE-170 E-class and GTE-65 F-class. The project is being implemented and supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia.
The machines are designed with consideration for the best industry practices and modern approaches to gas turbine design and operation.
The GTE-170 and GTE-65.1 prototypes are currently in production with varying degrees of readiness. The first production samples of domestic gas turbine units will be ready in 2023-2024. The company has also launched a project to create a 65 MW hydrogen gas turbine, and all gas turbines will be equipped with remote monitoring and predictive diagnostics systems.
In addition, production is being modernized, in particular, the installation of 49 new groups of equipment and a project to create a foundry complex for turbine blades is being implemented, which is planned to be launched in mid-2022.
"Power Machines have many years of experience in designing and manufacturing power-generating equipment. When working on a project to create domestic gas turbine units, we closely interact with institutes and enterprises connected to the industry. This experience will ensure the revival of domestic schools for gas turbine construction and further develop product lines. In the near future, re-equipment will allow Power Machines to manufacture up to eight fully made-in-Russia gas turbine units per year," said Alexander Ivanovsky.
The conference Scientific and Technical Aspects of the Application of Gas Turbine Units in the National Economy is a key scientific and technical event in the industry that addresses innovative development, scientific and technical solutions in the field of modern gas turbine and combined cycle gas turbine units. Each year, experts from power companies, aircraft engineering design bureaus, electrical and gas transmission enterprises, as well as research institutes, universities and institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences participate in the event. The previous conference was the 68th since the formation of the Commission for Gas Turbines of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 1949.
