Power Machines prematurely upgraded the 20th in succession hydropower unit of the Volga hydroelectric station

At the Volga hydroelectric station (a branch of RusHydro), the upgrading of hydropower unit No. 14 was put into operation by Power Machines.

This is the 20th successive hydropower unit of the station where the turbine was replaced, and the 13th one where the generator was replaced. In total, 23 hydropower units are installed at the Volga hydroelectric station. Their upgrade is carried out within RusHydro's comprehensive upgrading program.

In accordance with the unit No. 14 upgrade project, Power Machines performed works on replacing the turbine, generator, excitation system, automation system and auxiliary equipment.

The new turbine has an improved design and is characterized by a high degree of environmental safety. The updated impeller has five blades instead of the previous six and is designed for increased water flow through the turbine. Improved technical specifications of the unit allow it to increase its capacity by 10.5 MW in the future.

Currently, at the Volga hydroelectric station work on replacing the hydropower units No. 10 and 18 (replacing the turbine and generator) is being carried out, and this year it is scheduled to start work on replacing the generator of the hydropower unit No. 19.
