Power Machines completed design documentation development for the oil supply system of the GTE-170 gas turbine unit, including the major lubrication system component of the oil tank, implemented in a modular design with all the necessary equipment installed on it.
The system was designed in a modern three-dimensional software package, which made it possible to issue a set of detailed design documentation in a short time.
All the elements of the gas turbine unit's oil supply system were thoroughly worked out; moreover, their optimal layout was also ensured, and the station personnel will have convenient access to all major components of the external GTU systems for inspection, control, preventive and repair activity. Peculiarities and the key problem of this work are related to the design of spatial complex assembly sections and the need for many different pipelines routing.
Power Machines started developing a domestic line of power gas turbines of two standard sizes – GTE-65 and GTE-170 – in 2018. Prior to this, the design bureau has been created, design documentation has been developed, and design work is underway. The first GTE-170 turbine put into production, and the audit of GTE-65 (ГТЭ-65), which had previously been manufactured, but its tests were not completed, was carried out. The production of the GTE-65 and GTE-170 gas turbines is deployed at LMZ. This is complementary to the technological operations that are historically performed by the plant. The production is refitted with the equipment to eliminate bottlenecks. To test the full-sized units of the combustion chambers of power GTUs at full-scale parameters, the plant has its own experimental research base.
The R&D plan is implemented with the participation of the country's leading research enterprises. An important event in 2019 was Power Machines being the winning bidder in tender of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia to subsidize R&D for this project.
The successful development of gas turbine production technology by the Russian company will reduce the dependence of domestic energy production on the import of this equipment, plus ensure the energy and process security of the country.
