Power Machines opens a student design bureau at the National Research University MPEI

Power Machines and the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education "National Research University MPEI" launched a student design bureau (SDB) at the premises of the university. The opening ceremony was attended by Mikhail Ivanov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Timur Lipatov, General Director of JSC "Power machines", and Nikolai Rogalev, Rector of NRU MPEI.

The purpose of the SDB is to train students in creating advanced power-generating equipment. The educational process will be carried out using modern computer-aided design and numerical simulation tools used by the design and engineering departments of Power Machines. The SDB is equipped with advanced computer equipment, multimedia facilities and comfortable workspaces. A prototyping laboratory equipped with 3D printers and production equipment was established as part of the SDB.

- "I see the opening of a new design bureau for students as a solid step towards strengthening the national engineering school of thought. I am sure that the synergy of science and power engineering that is born here will help preserve and increase the scientific and production potential of the country," - said Mikhail Ivanov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

– "We are pleased to consolidate the knowledge and experience of our company's design engineers with the knowledge that the Moscow Power Engineering Institute gives its students," - comments Timur Lipatov, General Director of Power Machines, - "There is no doubt that it will be even more interesting for young people to study, and upon leaving the university they will already have invaluable experience of participation in real-life projects of the Russian power engineering industry."

- "We are grateful to Power Machines for the creation of a student design bureau. It is a very good approach when the future employer participates in the formation of a specialist during his or her studies at the university. In the design bureau, our students will work in the corporate environment of Power Machines with the involvement of the company's experts in the educational process. And we are glad to see that so many students are interested and get involved in this work," - says Nikolay Rogalev, Rector of NRU MPEI.

SDB will provide training in several areas: Electric Machines, Gas Turbines, Technical Management, Steam Turbines, Automation Systems, Boiler Plants, Hydro- and Turbine Generators, and Hydraulic Turbines. Students in their 3rd and 4th years of the bachelor’s degree course and 1st and 2nd years of a master's degree course may apply to work at SDB.
