"Power machines" Modernizes Hydraulic Power Unit No.10 at Votkinskaya HPP

"Power machines" has modernized hydraulic power unit No.10—the seventh of ten units at Votkinskaya HPP to be modernized as part of RusHydro's comprehensive modernization program (CMP)—and put it into warranty operation.

As part of the project, "Power machines" manufactured and supplied a Kaplan turbine, a hydrogenerator, an automatic control system for the hydraulic power unit, auxiliary equipment, dismantled the old equipment and assembled a new hydraulic power unit, supervised the installation, commissioning and start-up.

Before the hydraulic power unit was put into operation, a series of commissioning works were carried out, including individual and functional tests.

New turbine and generator, manufactured by "Power machines", have improved features, are more reliable and offer a high level of environmental safety.

The comprehensive modernization programme for Votkinskaya HPP includes the replacement of ten hydraulic power units, one per year; to date, "Power machines" has already replaced seven of them. For each unit, the company manufactures and supplies a set of hydraulic equipment, including a Kaplan turbine with control system, a hydrogenerator and auxiliary equipment. The contract also provides for installation, supervision and commissioning.

Once the work is completed, the plant's capacity will increase to 1,150 MW, which is 13% more than before the modernization. In addition, the new equipment will improve the safety and accident-free operation of the hydropower plant. The plant's first hydraulic power unit was replaced in 2017 and the modernization is scheduled to be completed by 2026.
