"Power machines" manufactures equipment for modernizing the Chirkey hydroelectric power station

At the Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod (LMZ), part of JSC "Power machines", model tests of a hydraulic turbine and static balancing of the impeller were successfully completed as part of the comprehensive modernization project of the Chirkey HPP (PJSC "RusHydro").

Acceptance tests of the hydraulic turbine model for units No. 2 and 4 were successfully performed in the LMZ Laboratory of Water Turbines (LWT), which was attended by customer representatives. This stage was preceded by bench tests, including testing the model in terms of efficiency, generated power, cavitation reserves, axial force, and acceleration speed – all declared values were confirmed with a high degree of reliability. Earlier, in April, LWT successfully conducted similar tests for units No. 1 and 3 of the Chirkey HPP. In the hydraulic turbine shop, static balancing of the impeller for hydraulic unit No. 4 of the station was performed. Customer representatives accepted the process of balancing a large-sized assembly as well as control points as part of the quality control program. This unit is scheduled to be put into operation in December 2024. As part of the comprehensive modernization project of the Chirkey hydroelectric power station located on the Sulak River in the Buynaksky region of Dagestan, "Power machines" extends the design, manufacture, and supply of four hydraulic turbines and four hydrogenerators. Equipment deliveries are planned to be completed by early 2026. Installation supervision services are further included in the scope of the company's commitment. As a result of the project implementation, the efficiency of the hydraulic turbines of the Chirkey HPP will be enhanced, and the power of each hydraulic unit (at the design head) will increase from 250 to 275 MW.
