Power Machines increased the capacity of Ust-Srednekanskaya HPP
The new impeller, over 5.8 meters in diameter and weighing 86 tons, was manufactured in St. Petersburg at Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod (part of JSC "Power machines") under contract with A.F. Dyakov Ust-Srednekanskaya HPP, signed in 2019.
Power Machines also manufactured and supplied Ust-Srednekanskaya HPP with a hydraulic turbine equipped with an automatic control system (ACS), a hydrogenerator together with an excitation system, and auxiliary equipment for the hydropower unit No. 4. In addition, Power Machines experts will provide installation supervision services.
The construction of Ust-Srednekanskaya HPP is continuing as planned. Commissioning the hydrogenerator No. 4 and reaching a design capacity of 570 MW is scheduled for 2022 with construction planned to be completed in 2023.
Ust-Srednekanskaya HPP on the Kolyma River in the Magadan Region is being constructed in several stages. The plant's first two hydropower units equipped with Power Machines hardware began operating in 2013 using temporary hydraulic turbine impellers adapted for operating at reduced water heads. With these impellers, each hydropower unit can reach a capacity of 84 MW.
The impeller of hydropower unit No. 1 was replaced in the summer of 2021, while hydropower units No. 3 (commissioned in 2019) and No. 4 (scheduled to start in 2022) were initially equipped with permanent impellers.
