"Power machines" identified the best mentors of mechanical engineering enterprises and colleges of the "Professionalitet" project
The Best Mentor 2023 contest was held at the site of Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod (LMZ, a part of JSC "Power machines").
It was attended by production workers from "Power machines" enterprises, including LMZ and Electrosila plant, as well as transformer plant "SMTT High Voltage Solutions", Taganrog Boiler-Making Works "Krasny Kotelshchik" (TKZ), Kaluga Turbine Works (KTZ), and industrial training masters from colleges of the federal project "Professionalitet" from Saint Petersburg and Kaluga. It is symbolic that the contest is held this year: 2023 is declared the Year of Teacher and Mentor in Russia, and at "Power machines", it is designated as the Year of the Apprentice.
The participants solved creative problems using mentoring skills and defended their solutions in front of the jury, which included representatives of the HR Directorate of "Power machines", Electrosila, LMZ and Saint Petersburg Electric Machinery College. What is important is that the contestants exchanged their experiences: professional teachers were eager to understand the intricacies of training at the production site, including during the excursion to the LMZ shops, and production specialists acquired insights into pedagogical skills.
Vsevolod Fedorov, TKZ electric welder of manual welding, was recognized as the best mentor, and Mikhail Afanasenko, representative of Izhora College, was recognized as the best college foreman. In the "Best Team" category, the mixed team was acknowledged as the leader, comprising a turner of KTZ Sergey Dubrovin, a master of the Technical College Alexei Kostylev, a turner of Electrosila Igor Korgan, and a transformer assembler of SMTT Alexander Romantsov.
"Power machines" has a set of measures in place to develop mentoring and increase the prestige of a mentor's work, to involve experienced employees in this activity and to provide them with financial incentives for training new employees. And we are sincerely grateful to the employees who become teachers for new generations of machine builders. It is crucial that individuals joining our workforce receive immediate support – they are assisted in becoming familiar with the profession, understanding the intricacies of power engineering, and the company's processes," emphasizes Tatiana Poletaeva, Deputy General Director for HR at "Power machines".
