Power Machines Held a Demo Day at the Student Design Bureaus

Power Machines held a Demo Day at all of the company’s student design bureau. The event summarized the work done during the 2021 autumn semester, and the interim results were presented. The Demo Day was attended by students, curators of universities, heads of design bureaus, and technical departments of Power Machines.

Working in the design bureaus, participants solve real engineering problems using modern design tools and technologies. The students' work was presented across seven sections: gas turbines, steam turbines, hydro turbines, hydro and turbine generators, boiler plants, automation systems and electrical machines, and technical management. The students at the design bureaus received performance reviews from Power Machines experts, their questions were answered as well. Company representatives told the SDB students about the advantages of working in the company, opportunities for further professional development, and career prospects.

“Participating in the projects of the student design bureaus goes far beyond solving specific design problems; it gives future specialists a chance to acquire a complete picture of the business processes. The training program for the 1st six months of 2022 for the SDB participants includes a presentation of Power Machines key products, analysis of the product life cycle from development to operation, development of soft skills, building a career plan and studying labor law with analyses of real cases”, said Elena Solovieva, JSC Power Machines HR Director.

The work program in the Special Design Bureau is intended to last two years. During their work in the design bureau, students will receive remuneration and work experience at the enterprise, and upon graduation, they will be able to continue working at Power Machines on more favorable terms compared to other university graduates. All design bureaus of Power Machines are equipped with state-of-the-art computers and multimedia equipment.

Power Machines is developing a wide network of student design bureaus throughout Russia. Power Machines SDB has already been created and is successfully operating at the National Research University MPEI, St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Tomsk Polytechnic University, Ufa State Aviation Technical University, and others.
