Power Machines’ General Designer speaks about their predictive diagnostics system for power equipment

General Designer of JSC “Power machines”, Alexander Ivanovskiy, spoke about their predictive diagnostics system for power equipment at the ‘Digital Transformation in the Defense Industrial Complex Entities’ conference. The event took place on September 21 in Moscow. Its organizers included The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia; Federal State Unitary Enterprise All-Russia Scientific Research Institute ‘Center’; Design Office of the Federal Personnel Reserve of the Defense Industry Complex; and State Space Corporation ROSCOSMOS.

During the conference, heads of ministries, state corporations, and influential engineering and power companies discussed the advantages and current state of digitization, business solutions, technologies, successful projects, as well as the role of the state in digital transformation.

Alexander Ivanovskiy spoke about the development of Power Machines’ service offerings in the areas of diagnostics and monitoring power-generating equipment. Power Machines supports its customers throughout all stages of the equipment’s life cycle and keeps track of its condition. Therefore, creating a predictive diagnostics system was the logical next step.

"This comprehensive solution is based on an expert approach to diagnostics and the integration of innovative technologies. The experience we’ve gained over the years has enabled us to introduce algorithms for statistical analysis and mathematical modeling. We use big data and forecasting based on regression analysis and neural network methods, carrying out diagnostics of the equipment’s technical condition, forecasting deviations, and transferring data to the diagnostic center on an ongoing basis. We adjust reference models and seed the diagnostic properties database with subsequent neural network training. Moreover, we’ve made sure that the system is able to function independently at the client’s site," Alexander Ivanovskiy emphasized.

The equipment’s condition is monitored at the Power Machines expert diagnostic center. This remote monitoring center provides a whole range of services for clients, including round-the-clock support and consultations with company experts, adjustment of the model based on reports summarising how the equipment operates, a qualitative assessment of start-up and shutdown modes, and an equipment status report that includes maintenance recommendations.

Power Machines’ predictive diagnostics system ensures that the equipment is reliable and reduces operating costs. So far, we have successfully developed this system for five different types of equipment: steam and hydro turbines, turbo and hydro generators, steam boilers. We will add gas turbines to our range of serviced products by 2022.
