Power Machines continues their participation in Votkinskaya HPP modernization
Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod (a subgroup of JSC "Power machines") has completed production on the impeller for hydropower unit 8 of the Votkinskaya HPP. The equipment has passed functional tests and is being prepared to be shipped to the power plant.
The impeller was manufactured due to the contract that called for the total replacement of ten HPUs at Votkinskaya HPP. According to the contract, Power Machines will manufacture and supply ten sets of hydro-power equipment to Votkinskaya HPP. Each set includes an adjustable-blade turbine complete with the control system, a hydrogenerator, as well as auxiliary equipment for the hydropower unit. The Contract also cover installation, supervisory installation, and startup-adjustment works.
The new equipment from Power Machines has improved the technical and power characteristics and is also more reliable. The turbine impellers have an environmentally-friendly design with oil-free bushings that prevent oil from entering the water.
The first hydropower unit was replaced in 2017. Later, new hydropower units were commissioned annually, and five out of ten units have already been renewed.
Once the project is complete, the plant's capacity will increase to 1150 MW, which is 13% higher than before the modernization program began.
