"Power machines" Completes Shipment of a Complete Turbine for Modernization of Kostromskaya SDPP

"Power machines" produced and shipped a complete steam turbine for modernization of Kostromskaya SDPP (JSC "Inter RAO — Electric Power Plants").

After production was completed, the complete steam turbine K-330-23,5 for power unit No.2 at Kostromskaya SDPP was tested at the barring gear of the Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod in the presence of the customer. Next, a set of equipment, including high, medium and low pressure rotors and housing parts, was shipped to the plant.

"Power machines" equipment will significantly improve the technical and economic characteristics and increase the capacity of the plant's unit from 300 to 330 MW. Modern developments used in the company's units will also reduce specific fuel consumption and increase the fleet life of the turbine by 220,000 hours.

The contract between "Power machines" and "Inter RAO — Electric Power Plants" for the modernization of four power units No. 8, 4, 2, and 7 at Kostromskaya SDPP was signed in 2019 during the first wave of the capacity delivery agreement (CDA) program. The equipment is manufactured at the Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod, part of "Power machines".

Earlier the company manufactured and delivered key turbine units for power unit No. 8, which was commissioned in 1973 and became the first-born of the state program of modernization of thermal power plants, and power unit No. 4. As a result of the project, the capacity of the power units at Kostromskaya SDPP increased. The service life of the turbine units supplied will be at least 40 years, and the time between repairs has been increased to 6 years. The upgraded units have already been put into operation and passed warranty tests.

Kostromskaya SDPP is one of the largest thermal power plants in Russia with record indicators of fuel economy among enterprises of its class. It is the third largest in terms of installed capacity (3,660 MW) and generates about 1.5% of the total electricity produced in Russia (annual output of electricity by the plant is about 15 billion kWh).
