Power Machines completed the delivery of equipment for power units No. 5 and No. 6 of the Syrdarya TPP

As part of the contract for the modernization of six power units of the Syrdarya TPP in Uzbekistan, Power Machines shipped a set of the main equipment (turbine, generator, boiler equipment) for the modernization of power units No. 5 and No. 6 of the TPP and are carrying out the delivered equipment erection.

The modernization and commissioning of the equipment of both power units will be completed by the end of 2020.

The modernization of six power units of the Syrdarya TPP is carried out in three stages with an increase in the total capacity of the plant from 1800 to 1950 MW. To this date, Power Machines has implemented the first stage – power units No. 3 and No. 4 have been commissioned. As a result of the modernization, both power units are equipped with modern equipment that has improved performance and meets all the requirements for reliability and safety. The service life of the newly installed turbine assemblies is 40 years, while the capacity of each power unit has been increased by 25 MW – to 325 MW.

Completion of the modernization of the largest TPP in Central Asia is scheduled for 2021, during which power units No. 9 and No. 10 will be put into operation.

According to the EPC contract signed between PJSC Power machines and Syrdarya TPP JSC in accordance with the Order of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "on measures for stage modernization of the Syrdarya TPP power units", the Russian power engineering company is performing a full-scale modernization of six power units of the plant.

The scope of work performed by PJSC Power machines on a turnkey basis includes comprehensive modernization of the turbine, generator, boiler and auxiliary equipment, introduction of automated technological process control systems, reconstruction of automatic control systems, complex construction and installation as well as supervision works. The main equipment of the power units is manufactured by Russian companies: Power Machines, TKZ Krasny Kotelshchik, and OJSC Kaluga Turbine Works". 

The implementation of the project will increase the volume of electricity generated in the country, ensure the stable operation of the power system of Uzbekistan, and have a positive impact on the economic indicators of the region.
