"Power machines" at the Russian Energy Week (REW) 2023: development of hydropower is crucial for the country's energy balance and the domestic power engineering industry
Vladimir Demyanov, Deputy General Director, Head of the Hydropower Division of JSC "Power machines", noted the importance of hydropower development at the Russian Energy Week Forum. The Company is ready to participate in the construction of large and small HPPs.
"The efficiency of hydro equipment is much higher than other types of generation, with an efficiency of 94%. It is crucial to boost the commissioning of hydropower facilities in Russia to preserve the accumulated experience and further develop the technological potential of the domestic power engineering industry," emphasized Vladimir Demyanov during the session titled "Hydropower Development: from Plans to Implementation."
"Power machines" is ready to participate as a supplier of the main hydro-power equipment when implementing the projects of new construction of large HPPs planned in the General Scheme of Power Industry Facilities Location until 2035 approved by the Government of the Russian Federation and envisaging commissioning of about 6 GW of capacity.
The company has the largest and oldest school of creating equipment for hydropower, no other manufacturer in Russia has such experience. The production of "Power machines" is fully localized, and a wide range of competencies and technologies allows developing new products and creating state-of-the-art equipment, fully ensuring the technological sovereignty of the Russian hydropower industry.
"Power machines" is actively involved in the Program of comprehensive modernization of RusHydro's facilities. The largest projects of the Program in recent years include large-scale modernization of hydroelectric units at Zhigulevskaya, Volzhskaya, Cheboksarskaya, Votkinskaya, Rybinskaya, Mainskaya and other HPPs. Projects for Nizhegorodskaya, Cherekskaya, Chirkeyskaya and other HPPs are currently in progress.
"We implement an integrated approach to projects, manufacturing the entire line of equipment for power plants: turbines, generators, automatic control systems, auxiliary equipment," said Vladimir Demyanov.
"Power machines" continues to expand their product line and are ready to offer equipment for hydroelectric units with capacity from 5 MW, including under the RES CDA. Hydroturbines with a capacity of up to 50 MW will eliminate the use of imported equipment in the construction of small HPPs (SHPP), which will give an additional impetus to this segment of hydropower in Russia.
The development of small hydropower will be facilitated by the Russian Government's support for the expansion of the RES CDA program. Revision of the tender selection parameters will make the construction of such power plants attractive for investment, make it possible to switch to serial production of units for them and thus balance the cost of energy produced by SHPP.
The Russian Energy Week International Forum is one of the key international platforms for discussing topical issues of fuel and energy complex development. The central theme of REW 2023 was "The New Reality of World Energy: Creating the Future". The event is traditionally held with the participation of representatives of federal authorities, heads of the largest companies in the energy industry, industry organizations, and mass media. Over 4,000 guests from more than 60 countries and territories are expected at REW 2023 site.
