Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod manufactured and shipped the first Impeller for Maynskaya HPP of RusHydro

Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod has produced a rotating-blade impeller for the Hydropower Unit (HU) No. 3 of the Maynskaya HPP. This is the first of the three impellers manufactured as part of the Maynskaya HPP upgrade project. The equipment will be delivered to the power plant in February 2021.

The design of the new impeller includes the mounting assemblies (bearings) of the blade rotation mechanism, made from a modern carbon-glass-epoxy composite material that does not require lubrication. In addition to that, the design has the following feature: when the hydro-turbine is stopped, the novel system of pipes and holes located within the shaft and inside the impeller allows for monitoring of the condition of the stem sealings and the blade flanges of the impeller without disassembly, which significantly reduces the Customer's costs for servicing of the unit.

The contract for the supply of hydro-turbine equipment for the Maynskaya HPP was signed between Power Machines and RusHydro in September 2018. The scope of obligations of Power Machines includes the manufacture and supply of equipment for hydro-turbines of units No. 1, 2, 3 of the Maynskaya HPP and installation supervision services.

As a result of the project implementation, the efficiency of the hydro-turbines will be increased, while the capacity of each of them (at the maximum head) will increase from 110 MW to 113.5 MW.

To date, "Power machines" has manufactured a guide vane, an impeller chamber, an oil-pressure unit, and turbine automation equipment for HU No. 3, as well as spare parts for the hydro-turbines of HU No. 1, 2, and 3.

HU No. 3 is scheduled to be commissioned at the end of the current year.
