Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod manufactured a guide vane for the first hydropower unit of the Mainskaya HPP of RusHydro

Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod completed the manufacture of the guide vane for the hydropower unit (HU) No. 1 of the Mainskaya HPP. The equipment is currently being prepared for shipment, which is scheduled for April 2021.

The guide vane is one of the largest elements of the HU. It is designed to supply water flow to the impeller and regulate its flow through the turbine, depending on the load and rotation speed of the hydropower unit.

Among the features of the new device for the Mainskaya HPP is the use of modern antifriction material in the support units, which requires no lubrication during operation. In addition, the new design of the upper ring allows the HPP personnel to replace the bearings and sealing elements of the lower pins of the blades without complete disassembly of the unit, ensuring improved repairability and lower costs for the customer on HU maintenance.

The contract for the supply of the hydroturbine equipment for the Mainskaya HPP was signed between Power Machines and RusHydro in September 2018. The scope of obligations of Power Machines includes the manufacture and supply of equipment for hydro-turbines of units No. 1, 2, 3 of the Mainskaya HPP and the installation supervision services.

As a result of the implementation of this project, the efficiency of the hydro-turbines will be increased, while the capacity of each of them (at the maximum head) will increase from 110 MW to 113.5 MW.

To date, Power Machines has manufactured and delivered to the HPP a guide vane, an impeller, an oil-filled unit, and turbine automation equipment for the HU No. 3, as well as spare parts for the hydroturbines of HUs No. 1, 2, and 3.

The commissioning of HU No.1 is scheduled for 2022.
