Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod has completed production on the hydraulic equipment for modernizing Rybinskaya HPP

Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod (a subgroup of the Power Machines company) manufactured a guide vane - the last unit of the modernization project for three hydropower units at Rybinskaya HPP.

The equipment manufactured for hydropower unit 5 has passed functional tests, which were witnessed by the customer and is now being prepared to be shipped to the station.

The guide vane was manufactured under a replacement contract for three units of Rybinskaya HPP. The scope of obligations for Power Machines included developing, manufacturing, and supplying equipment for hydraulic turbines, hydrogenerators, and auxiliary systems of hydropower units, as well as their installation, testing, and commissioning.

The new equipment has improved technical and power-generating characteristics and is also more reliable. The company's designers employed modern and innovative design methods for this project, which would increase the capacity of each hydropower unit by 18% - from 55 MW to 65 MW. In addition, the turbine impellers have an environmentally-friendly design with oil-free bushings that prevent oil from entering the water.

Hydropower units 1 and 3 were upgraded by Power Machines, and were successfully commissioned in March 2018 and December 2019, respectively, increasing the HPP capacity by 20 MW.

Upon completing the upgrades to HPU 5 and its commissioning, the total capacity of the Rybinskaya HPP will increase by 30 MW.
