Kashirskaya Power Plant modernization project started

General Director of PJSC "Inter RAO" Boris Kovalchuk, Governor of the Moscow Region Andrey Vorobyov, and General Director of JSC "Power machines" Alexander Konyukhov launched the modernization of Kashirskaya Power Plant. Innovative large-capacity combined cycle gas turbines (CCGTs) produced within the country will be mounted at the power plant for the first time in Russia.

The CCGT construction project at Kashirskaya Power Plant, 900 MW capacity, was selected to participate in the State Heat Power Modernization Programme as part of the quota established for projects that use innovative samples of power-generating equipment. Supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, the construction of 2 two-unit plants of PGU-460 based on the Russian-made gas turbine GTE-170.1 and manufactured by JSC "Power machines," is planned to take place at Kashirskaya Power Plant. The high-power gas turbine GTE-170.1 manufactured by JSC "Power machines" was the first in Russia to receive the status of innovative power-generating equipment.

PJSC "Inter RAO - Electric Power Plants" and JSC "Power machines" entered into a preliminary agreement to supply equipment for this project, which implements design, manufacture, delivery, and installation of combined cycle gas turbines at Kashirskaya Power Plant.

More than three hundred high-tech workplaces will be created due to the modernization of Kashirskaya Power Plant.

Shipments of updated capacity intended for the wholesale energy market are scheduled to commence on January 1, 2028.
