A hydropower unit with a turbine manufactured by Power Machines has been commissioned at Maynskaya HPP

The renewed hydropower unit with Station 3 has been commissioned at Maynskaya HPP. This is the first of the plant's three hydropower units that was replaced under the Comprehensive Modernization Program for RusHydro's Hydropower Plants (CMP). The commissioning took place after the equipment successfully passed comprehensive testing.

During the year-long project, the hydraulic turbine, hydropower unit, hydropower unit control system, and ancillary systems were all replaced.

The hydraulic turbine for the renewed unit was designed and manufactured by Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod (LMZ) (a member of JSC “Power machines”).

One of the new turbine's features is employing modern anti-friction materials that do not require lubrication while the support units are operating. In addition, the new design for the upper ring allows HPP personnel to replace the bearings and sealing elements of the lower pins on the blades without having to completely disassemble the unit, ensuring improved repairability and lowering HU maintenance costs for the customer.

The contract for supplying hydro-turbine equipment for the Maynskaya HPP was signed between Power Machines and RusHydro in September 2018. The scope of obligations for “Power machines” includes the manufacture and supply of equipment for hydro-turbines for units 1, 2, 3 of the Maynskaya HPP and installation supervision services.

The project will result in hydro-turbine efficiency increasing, while each of their capacities (at the maximum head) will increase from 110 MW to 113.5 MW.
