Second Power Unit of Chios Diesel Power Plant (Greece) is put into operation

Second Power Unit of Diesel Power Plant (DPP) in Chios island, Greece, which was equipped in partnership with OJSC Power Machines has been put into operation.

In 2007 the contract for procurement of diesel generator for the second Power Unit of Chios DPP was signed with Doosan Engine, South Korean company, which was working under the power plant turnkey construction. Project originator was the Public Power Corporation of Greece.

Pursuant to the contractual obligations Power Machines executed engineering, manufacturing and procurement of 14.5 MW diesel generator completed with excitation system. Furthermore, the contract stipulated installation supervision and start-up operations.

In January, 2008 the first 14.5 MW Power Unit of Chios DPP was put into operation; generator for that unit was also manufactured and procured by Power Machines.

Procurement for DPP in Chios island is the third co-project that has been initiated between Power Machines and Doosan Engine and being implemented in Greece power generation market. In 2005 two 16.5 MW Power Units were successfully put into operation in DPP of Kos island, and after a year there was another 11.2 MW Power Unit which was put into operation in DPP of Paros island. The Public Power Corporation of Greece awarded the generators with a special quality certificates for their reliable service.

These were the first generators of such high capacity designed for diesel power plants manufactured in Russia and CIS. Diesel generators manufactured by Power Machines show high competitive technical and operational performance as compared to analogous equipment of such leading world manufactures as Alstom (Spain), Meidensha (Japan), Dolmel (Poland).
