Se San 3 HPP (Vietnam) made a start of its first power unit

30 March 2006 Se San 3 HPP (Vietnam) made a trial start of its first power unit.

The power unit worked for an hour on maximum speed without any failures. The installed equipment comprises a 132,65 MW Francis hydroturbine by Leningradsky Metallichesky zavod and a 152,94 MW hydrogenerator by Electrosila. The commissioning of the first power unit is scheduled for the end of April.

The equipment of Se San 3 HPP is delivered by Power Machines in accordance with the intergovernmental agreement on a state credit for the construction of a HPP, signed between Russia and Vietnam.

The value of the Se San3 HPP contract exceeds $61 mln.

The Se San 3 HPP site is located near the Se San river, a Mekong tributary, in the central Vietnam.

The project was initiated by the State-owned power utility Electricity of Vietnam (EVN). The turn-key contract for the HPP construction was granted to the state building company Shong Da.
