Power Machines will supply turbogenerators to Bulgaria

OJSC "Power Machines" signed the contract with "Risk Engineering" company (Bulgaria) for designing, manufacturing, delivery and installation supervision of two turbogenerators of the type of ТВВ-220-2Е with hydrogen-water cooling for reconstruction of power units, having station Nos. 5 and 6, at the "Maritsa-Vostok-2" Bulgarian TPP.

Price of the contract exceeds 12 million euros. The first machine is planned to be supplied in December, 2009, the second one – in April-May of 2010. Turbogenerators will be designed and manufactured by "Electrosila", being a branch of OJSC "Power Machines". The turbines in these units would not be replaced within the frameworks of the tender floated by the Bulgarian party.

Turbogenerators of ТВВ series with hydrogen-water cooling are being manufactured at the "Electrosila" on a production-run basis, for more than 20 years. They are intended for coupling to steam turbine and for installation at thermal and nuclear power plants in the class of capacities of up to 1,200 MW.

At the "Maritsa-Vostok-2" TPP, located at a distance of 50 kilometres from the city of Stara Zagora (Bulgaria), eight power units are installed, equipped with turbines manufactured by the "Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod", and generators manufactured by the "Electrosila". The equipment was supplied during 1970-80s. At present, the total capacity of the electric power plant makes 1,192 MW. Upon completion of modernization of the units Nos. 5 and 6 with the help of the "Power Machines", its total capacity would be increased, and would make 1,556 MW.
