Power Machines and Atomenergoprom have signed a contract to supply power equipment for power units 1 and 2 that are under construction at Belene NPP. The power units will have a capacity of 1,060 MW each.
Under the contract Power Machines will design, manufacture, and deliver to Belene NPP two sets of 1,060 MW steam turbines, condensers, and separate ancillary equipment for turbine plant systems, as well as two sets of turbogenerators including equipment for ancillary systems, excitation system, and exciter. The equipment is planned to be supplied in 2011 – 2012.
High-speed steam turbines and turbogenerators with over 1,000 MW capacity from Power Machines have shown good performance at Tianwan NPP, China. Since, however, Bulgaria's Belene NPP has a system that includes turbine feeding pumps, new design solutions will be used when designing and manufacturing equipment for the plant to generate the power needed by the customer.
Atomstroyexport acts as the principal contractor for the Belene NPP project.
