Power Machines completed a project in Vietnam

Power Machines OJSC put into operation a new 300 MW power unit at Uong-Bi TPP, Vietnam (under warranty maintenance terms).

Power Machines company fulfilled its obligations under the contract envisaging design, manufacture, delivery, installation supervision, and commissioning of the complete set of equipment for turbine and boiler buildings of Uong-Bi TPP’s new 300 MW power unit under turnkey terms. Currently Power Machines’ obligations only include providing maintenance support for the new power unit under the warranty which expires in 2011.

The contract for procurement of the main power equipment for Uong-Bi TPP’s power unit was signed between Power Machines company and Lilama, Vietnam Machinery Erection Corporation, in June 2003. The project was commissioned by state-owned Electricity of Vietnam Corporation. The contract price is over 120 mln US$.

Under the terms of the contract, Power Machines are to procure for Uong-Bi TPP main equipment, including a 300 MW steam turbine and a 320 MW turbine generator manufactured by the company. Power Machines’ scope of delivery also included a steam boiler of 920 t/hr steam capacity manufactured by Taganrog Boiler-Making Works Krasny Kotelshchik OJSC, as well as other auxiliary equipment.

Putting into operation of Uong-Bi TPP’s new power unit is an important part of Power Machines’ activities on Vietnam energy market. Smooth operation of the power unit will allow the company to further participate in implementing the country’s energy system development program.

Power Machines are currently engaged in construction project of Pleykrong HPP in Vietnam. Within the framework of the project the company manufactured two 55 MW hydraulic turbines completed with generators. Pleykrong HPP has already put the first hydraulic unit into operation.
