After a successfully accomplished 72-hour tests under a load, the first hydro unit of the "A Wong" HPP was commissioned to experimental-production warranted operation.
The tender for participation in the construction of "A Wong" HPP has been won by the "Power Machines" in 2005, in consortium with a Japanese company of "Sumitomo Corporation", signed the contract for the delivery of the equipment for machinery hall of the station "on a turn-key basis". The share of the "Power Machines" in the total prise of the project made 17.3 million US dollars. The customer of the project was the state power-engineering company of Vietnam, the "Electricity of Vietnam" company.
The contract obligations of the "Power Machines" included designing, manufacturing, supplying and installation supervision of two hydro turbines to have the capacity of 105 MW each, two regulators, two pre-turbine gates and water sleeve gate, as well as delivery of a part of electric equipment, cranes and other auxiliary equipment.
At present, the first one of the two hydro units of the station was commissioned to a trial operation. Upon completion of the trial operation and accomplishment of tests, the power unit would be handed over to the customer to warranted operation. Start-up of the second hydro unit is expected in January, 2009.
This would be yet the second project of the "Power Machines", in cooperation with the "Sumitomo Corporation", being the largest Japanese company in the Vietnamese power market. In July, 2005, the company signed the contract for supply of hydro turbine equipment and a range of auxiliary equipment for two power units of the "Bong Coupe" HPP having capacity of 140 MW each.
At present, the "Power Machines" also perform their projects in Vietnam, on the construction of the "Wong B" and "Playcrong" HPP. For the thermal power station, the Russian company has manufactured and supplied electrical equipment for turbine and boiler isle, and for the "Playcrong" hydro power plant – two turbines having capacity of 55 MW complete with the generators.
