Power Machines have tested a turbogenerator with capacity of 125 MW manufactured for the Raahe TPP power unit which is currently under construction. The generator will be delivered to the port and go to Finland by sea.
A contract to manufacture and supply the power equipment for the new Raahe TPP power unit was concluded between the Power Machines OJSC and Energico Oy Consortium and the Ruukki Oy Company. The contract was awarded following a competitive bidding process, the winner of which was the Russian-Finnish consortium consisting of the consortium’s leader, Energico Oy, Finland, and Power Machines OJSC.
Under the contract terms Power Machines is to design, manufacture and supply a 125 MW steam turbine complete with a turbogenerator to the customer. Furthermore, the Russian power engineering company is to perform installation supervision, commissioning and startup works. The Finnish consortium partners are to supply auxiliary equipment and perform installation works.
The startup of the new power unit is scheduled for 2016.
Earlier, in July of the current year, Power Machines manufactured and shipped a condenser to the power plant. In August a steam turbine was manufactured and tested in the presence of the customer. The turbine’s shipment is scheduled for September 2015.
As a result of the implementation of the second power unit construction project, the capacity of Raahe TPP will amount to 125 MW, while the turbine set of the first power unit will be put on standby and preserved.
At present a 50 MW power unit is being operated at Raahe TPP. Its main equipment (turbine and generator) was produced by Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod and Electrosila Plant, forming parts of Power Machines OJSC, in 1950s.
