Power Machines produce energy-efficient equipment for Demikhov Engineering Works

Power Machines Reostat Plant JSC, a subsidiary of Power Machines OJSC, has manufactured and shipped to the customer Demikhov Engineering Works JSC the first pilot batch of electric equipment for railway cars.

In March 2012, Power Machines Reostat Plant JSC (Velikie Luki, Pskov region) and Demikhov Engineering Works JSC entered into a contract to supply energy-efficient equipment for 108 cars of ED-9E-type electric trains. According to the contractual terms, Power Machines Reostat Plant are to manufacture and supply 18 packages of electric equipment for six-car train sets, including two head cars, two motor cars and one trailer car, by the end of this year. Each package comprises panels, power units, transformers, switches, as well as phase splitters, traction motors and other devices.

The equipment is designed for the new line of suburban electric trains, which will be supplied to the Gorkovskaya Railway (a branch of Russian Railways JSC) in order to improve the quality of transport services within the framework of the preparation for XXVII World Summer Universiade (2013, Kazan).

By now, the Power Machines Reostat Plant company has shipped the first pilot batch of electric equipment for head and trailer cars to the customer, and the pilot batch of electric equipment for motor cars will be shipped soon. Upon the installation completion, the equipment is going to be tested on an experimental circle track by the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Railway Transport in Scherbinka (Moscow region). Following the test results Power Machines Reostat Plant switches to serial production and supply of this electric equipment.

With this new project Power Machines Reostat Plant and Demikhov Engineering Works continue to successfully cooperate. In 2008, an energy-efficient package of electric equipment for AC electric trains was manufactured in Velikie Luki and installed on an experimental ED-9E-type electric train of nine wagon composition, which was certified and passed performance tests in the North-Caucasian Railway.

Today Power Machines Reostat Plant is the only Russian manufacturer of electric equipment for electric trains with the use of energy-efficient technologies.
