On the construction site of Blagoveshchenskaya TPP Phase 2 (owned and developed by Blagoveshchenskaya TPP, RusHydro’s subsidiary managed in trust by RAO Energy System of East), erection of cooling tower No. 4 exhaust stack frame commenced. The works are being carried out by Power Machines OJSC, acting in the capacity of the project’s general contractor.
Earlier, sixteen monolithic reinforced concrete foundations were built on the cooling tower construction site, and preparatory works before mounting of metal structures of the exhaust stack were fulfilled.
The tower skeleton designed to cool service water is a steel frame weighing a total of almost 500 tons. Part of the metal structures has already been delivered to the pre-assembly site.
Works associated with arrangement of the cooling tower reservoir will start in April. This will be a monolithic reinforced concrete structure (pan) shaped as a dioctahedron with circle diameter of 61 metres. Exteriorly, the cooling tower No.4 will differ from the three existing towers. The sprinkling area will amount to 2,300 sq.m (that of the existing cooling towers is 1,600 sq.m), and its height will reach 74 metres instead of the existing cooling towers’ 52 metres. At the same time, in order to ensure hydraulic compatibility with the existing cooling towers, all major design parameters of the new one will conform to those of the existing towers.
On the boiler house construction site, pre-assembly and mounting of the boiler unit No.5 are in progress, with over 1,400 tons of metal structures of the boiler having been mounted. In the turbine house, the first stage of concreting operations on the upper structure of the turbine set foundation was accomplished, installation of embedded parts for the second stage started. Over 380 people are involved on all of the construction sites.
