Power Machines Have Modernized the Tainionkoski HPP Power Unit in Finland

Hydraulic power unit No. 1 was put into operation at the Tainionkoski HPP after modernization works performed by Power Machines. As a result of the modernization, the hydraulic power plant capacity was increased, and its service life was prolonged by 50 years.

The contract for the modernization of two Tainionkoski HPP generators with a capacity of 14.4 MW each was concluded by Power Machines - Energico Oy with Fortum Power and Heat Oy (Finland) in January 2015.

The scope of Power Machines' obligations includes the manufacture and delivery of two sets of equipment, each of which includes: a hydrogenerator stator, an oil vapor extraction system, mounting tools, and spare parts. Power Machines’ specialists will also render supervised installation services.

The start of the second refurbished hydraulic unit is scheduled for September 2018.

The participation of Power Machines in the modernization of the Tainionkoski HPP is continuing with the successful participation of Energico Oy, a traditional partner of our power engineering company in Finland. Last year, our companies implemented a hydrogenerator modernization project at the Nuoja HPP, increasing its unit capacity. Power Machines, together with its Finnish partner, has also completed the construction of a new power unit at the Raahe power plant, which was put into operation in 2016, and took part in the construction of the Jyväskylä TPP that was launched in 2010.
