Power Machines has been granted a new contract in Greece

OJSC “Power Machines” and diesel engines manufacturer Doosan (Republic of Korea) have entered into a contract for supply of the 14.5 MW diesel generator for the second power unit of the diesel power plant (DPP) located on the island of Chios, Greece.

The Customer of the project is the Greek State Power Corporation, and Doosan is the contractor for project which contemplates the building of the power plant on the “turn-key” basis.

Under the contract the equipment will be manufactured and supplied to the Customer in summer 2008 whereupon the Power Machines’ specialists will perform the erection supervision of the project. The start-up of the first power unit, the equipment for which was also manufactured by OJSC “Power Machines,” is scheduled for the beginning of 2008, and of the second power unit – in the beginning of 2009.

Supply of equipment for the DPP on the island of Chios is the third project of Power Machines in the Greek market in the sphere of island-based power generating facilities. In 2003 – 2005 the company supplied two 16.5 MW generators for the DPP on the island of Kos and also a 11.2 MW generator for the DPP on the island of Paros. Because of their no-failure performance the generators were granted a special quality Certificate by the Greek State Power Corporation.

It was the first time the generators of the specified power capacity for diesel power plants were manufactured in Russia and in the CIS countries. Owing to their technical and performance characteristics the diesel generators produced by Power Machines are successfully competing with the equipment of the leading world manufacturers such as Alstom (Spain), Meidensha (Japan) and Dolmel (Poland).

In view of the positive experience with the sale of the new diesel generators and the prospects of development of the small-scale power generating facilities sector Power Machines is planning to participate in several tenders for supply of equipment for diesel power plants of which the most attractive projects are those located on the island of Rhodes (6 x 20 MW power units) and the DPP on the island of Crete (3 x 50 MW power units) in Greece as well as for Merloni DPP (4 x 13.8 MW power units) and Ever DPP (a 19.3 MW power unit) in Italy.
