OJSC “Power Machines” has completed the manufacturing and shipping of the main power generating equipment for the sixth, the last 335 MW power unit of Bureyskaya HPP. Last night the 102 t turbine runner was shipped from the works and delivered to Pulkovo Airport from where it will be transported to the Amurskaya Oblast by cargo airplane AN-124 “Ruslan.”
Due to the dimensions and heavy weight of the runner (weight 102 t, diameter 6.34 m, height 3.17 m) it was transported across the city in the night time when the traffic was low. Airline “Polyot” which specializes in the transportation of heavy cargoes with large dimensions will traditionally act as a partner of OJSC “Power Machines” in this project.
Apart from the turbines OJSC “Power Machines” also supplied to Bureyskaya HPP hydrogenerators of the same capacity. The installation of the last generator at the sixth power unit is currently being performed.
The ceremonial commissioning of the sixth power unit is scheduled for October this year. Thus, the most ambitious project in the Russian hydro power sector for the last 20 years will be completed. The advanced technological solutions used by Power Machines in the design and manufacturing of the equipment make Bureyskaya HPP one of the most technically advanced hydro power plants in Russia and the CIS.
The commissioning of Bureyskaya HPP will significantly increase the volumes of power supply to the Russian Far East and contribute to the solving of the existing social problems of the local population and to the improving the local ecological conditions.
