Power Machines are to Modernize Central Asia's Largest Power Plant

During the period from 2018 until 2020, Power Machines will carry out the stage-by-stage modernization of six power units of the Syrdarya TPP in Uzbekistan.

Power Machines will modernize the turbine, generator, boiler and auxiliary equipment of the Syrdarya TPP power units No. No. 3-6, 9 and 10. They will also introduce automated process control systems, refurbish servosystems, perform construction and installation, supervised installation, precommissioning works and guarantee tests in order to confirm the contracted capacity increase. All the PJSC Power Machines facilities will be engaged in work over the power units. The completion of the modernization is scheduled for 2020.

"The modernization of Uzbekistan's largest power facility will reduce electric energy shortages in the region, and improve the operational reliability of the national power grid," stated Yuri Petrenya, General Director of PJSC Power Machines. "Starting from 2018, Power Machines will undertake to modernize annually two power units on a turnkey basis. This is one of the particular features of this contract: by our industry's standards, it is quite a tight schedule for such a large amount of work."

As a result of modernization, the capacity of each power unit will increase by 25 MW to 325 MW; in total, the power plant’s capacity will increase by 150 MW.

Earlier, from 2013-2015 Power Machines carried out a comprehensive modernization of the Syrdarya TPP power units No. 1 and No. 2, increasing their capacity by 50 MW to 650 MW.
