Power Machines manufactured and commenced the shipment of the fourth hydroelectric generator with a capacity of 80 MW for the Nizhne-Bureyskaya HPP under construction in the Russian Far East. The shipment of hydraulic turbine 4 will be complete in November this year.
The delivery agreement for four 80 MW hydroelectric generators for the Nizhne-Bureyskaya HPP was signed between the Nizhne-Bureyskaya HPP company (RusHydro’s subsidiary) and Power Machines in September 2013.
According to the agreement, Power Machines will design, manufacture, deliver, and perform the installation supervision and installation of four sets of hydropower unit equipment, each set including a Kaplan hydroturbine complete with an automated control system, a hydroelectric generator with an excitation system, and auxiliary equipment for the hydropower unit.
After commissioning, the design capacity of the Nizhne-Bureyskaya HPP will reach 320 MW, with an annual gross generation of 1,650 million kWh. The hydropower units of the Nizhne-Bureyskaya HPP are scheduled for commissioning in 2016.
The specific features of this project include environmentally safe design of the hydroturbines – the hydroturbines’ runner cavity housing the blade rotation mechanism is designed oil-free, so that oil leaks into water are eliminated.
Furthermore, Power Machines’ specialists are currently providing supervision services during equipment installation. Hydroturbine linings and embedded parts have been installed in all four hydropower units.
