Organization and personnel changes in Power Machines OJSC

On April 3, 2015 the Board of Directors of Power Machines OJSC decided to elect Roman Philippov, who held until recently a position of Economics Director of Severstal Managenement JSC, as the Director General. Roman Philippov enters the office on April 10, 2015. Alexander Rantsev takes up a position of Deputy Director General for Sales at Power Machines OJSC and will be in charge of commercial (including projects implementation) and strategic units of the Company.

According to Alexey Mordashov, the Board of Directors Chairman of Power Machines OJSC, Roman Philippov has extensive experience in the management of financial and economic services of mining and smelting production enterprises and strong leadership qualities that will enable to continue the successful development of our company and give a new impetus to the changes program in the field of production efficiency improvement and culture development.

Further growth of the company’s competitiveness by reducing costs and adopting world’s best practices is going to be a key priority for the Power Machines OJSC management. In recent years we have achieved significant progress in this area but the situation in the global and domestic markets demands to intencify our efforts.

The development of the Power Machines business system coupled with the accumulated positive experience of Severstal PJSC enterprises is to play an important role in this process.

The strategic goal of Power Machines OJSC is to strengthen its positions of the national leader in the industry and expand its presence in the global market of high-tech power equipment, including in priority regions – South and South-East Asia and Latin America.

Background of Roman Philippov

Roman Philippov was born in 1974.

He graduated from the St. Petersburg State Technical University as an engineer and economist, has a degree in MBA (Northumbria University, Newcastle, UK) and passed the Global Leadership Program.

Roman Philippov started his career in Severstal OJSC in 1997 as economist of the Process Economics Department at the Cherepovets Steel Mill and was appointed head of the Department in 2002.

From 2008 to 2010 he was in charge of the Department of Business Planning and Control where he was responsible for those activities at Russian and foreign enterprises of the Company.

In 2010 he was appointed Financial Director of Severstal OJSC Resources Division who managed the coal and iron ore assets of the Company.

In September 2013 he was appointed as Economics Director of Severstal OJSC.

Background of Alexander Rantsev

Alexander Rantsev was born in 1972.

In 1994 he graduated with honors from the Cherepovets Higher Military Radio Electronics Engineering Academy with a degree in computing machinery, systems and networks., and then received another major in higher school teaching at the same Academy in 2000. In 2007 he graduated with a commendation award from the MBA program at Northumbria University (Newcastle, UK). 

He did his military service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation between 1994 and 2001.

In 2001 he was employed by Severstal OJSC where he made his way from a specialist of the external project group to a senior manager of the Strategic Planning Department – Director of innovative projects.

Starting from October 2007 he was the Strategic Development and Controlling Director of Power Machines OJSC. As he held this position, he also worked as Director at the Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod and General Director at Interturbo LLC. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Power Machines OJSC, Kaluga Turbine Works OJSC, Siemens Gas Turbines Technologies LLC and Power Machines – Toshiba. High Voltage Transformers LLC.

Since January 2015 he has been the Acting Director General of Power Machines OJSC.
