OJSC “Power Machines” has completed the works related to the upgrading of the power generating unit (plant unit No. 1) of Konakovskaya GRES, which is the largest thermal power plant in the central part of Russia. The upgraded 328 MW turbine K-300-240-7MP has been put into operation.
The project Customer is JSC “The Fifth Power Generation Company” (JSC “OGK-5”), which Konakovskaya HPP forms part of.
The power unit upgrading project included the substitution of the flow part of the turbine high pressure cylinder using reactive blading technology, the substitution of the medium pressure cylinder flow part and rotor as well as repair of the low pressure cylinder. The work performed allowed to raise the power unit efficiency and power capacity from 300 MW up to 328 MW.
Konakovskaya GRES (8 power units of 300 MW capacity each) is currently using the turbine and generator equipment which was manufactured by the branches of OJSC “Power Machines” – Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod and Elektrosila and supplied in the 1960-s. The Power Plant, which is one of the major customers of OJSC “Power Machines”, has been implementing the all-round technical upgrading program since 1997. The turbogenerators upgrading was completed as the first stage of the program, and since 2004 the turbine upgrading has been performed. At present two upgraded turbines are already under operation at the Power Plant.
JSC “OGK-5” was registered in the City of Ekaterinburg on October 27, 2004. The resolution on establishment of JSC “OGK-5” was adopted by the Board of Directors of RAO “UES of Russia” on September 3, 2004.
JSC “OGK-5” has the following production branches: Konakovskaya GRES, Nevinnomysskaya GRES, Sredneuralskaya GRES and Reftinskaya GRES HPP. The aggregate installed capacity of the company production assets equals to 8,672 MW in electric power generating and 2,242 Gkal/h in heat power generating.
