Nizhne-Bureyskaya HPP OJSC (a subsidiary of RusHydro JSC) and Power Machines OJSC have signed a contract to supply four hydropower units each having a capacity of 80 MW for Nizhne-Bureyskaya HPP. Having offered the best technical and economical solution, Power Machines OJSC won a tender which preceded signing of the contract.
In accordance with the contract terms Power Machines are to design, manufacture and supply four sets of hydropower units equipment each comprising a Kaplan turbine complete with an automated control system, a hydrogenerator with excitation system as well as auxiliary equipment to the customer. Besides, Power Machines are to carry out mounting of the hydropower units at the hydropower plant.
The commissioning of the Nizhne-Bureyskaya HPP hydropower units is scheduled for 2015 to 2016. The plant's hydroturbines are going to have environmentally-friendly design: the impeller cavity where the blade turning mechanism is located will not be filled with oil which excludes the possibility of oil leakage into the water.
Nizhne-Bureyskaya HPP is a compensating reservoir of Bureyskaya HPP and the second plant of the Bureyskiy hydropower complex. The design capacity of the HPP is 320 MW (4 hydropower units). Its average annual output is 1,650 million kWh. In addition to power generation, another important function of Nizhne-Bureyskaya HPP consists in both leveling uneven daily discharges from Bureyskaya HPP and preventing human settlements from flooding. Nizhne-Bureyskaya HPP has been under construction since 2010 and this is one of the priority projects of RusHydro JSC Investment Program.
