Stator parts and components for the new 640 MW hydraulic generator were delivered to Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP operated by RusHydro OJSC. This equipment produced by Power Machines is purported to be used in the restoration of the hydraulic unit No.1.
So far, components contained in 44 railway carriages were delivered to Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP for its hydraulic unit No. 1. These are sections and body of the main generator stator (supplied loose), a set of devices for the assembly of the generator stator, and so on. Early delivery of parts and components for the hydraulic unit No. 1 is expected to be fully complete in December 2010.
Currently, under its production schedule Power Machines Company is also carrying out works to manufacture a hydraulic turbine for the hydraulic unit No. 1. In accordance with the Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP restoration program approved by the RF Ministry of Energy, the hydraulic unit No. 1 is to be launched in December 2011.
Power Machines and RusHydro signed a contract for manufacturing basic power generating equipment for the restoration of Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP in November 2009. Under this contract, Power Machines Company is to manufacture ten turbines and nine hydraulic generators rated at 640 MW, as well as six excitation systems. Power Machines’ specialists will also provide installation services for the equipment supplied, including installation supervision and commissioning. The contract value amounts to RUR 11.7 bln (without VAT).
The new hydraulic generators’ service life is expected to be increased up to 40 years, with the maximum turbine efficiency of 96.6%. Its power and cavitation characteristics will also be improved. The turbines will be equipped with an advanced technological protection system, automatically shutting down the unit in case of unacceptable mode deviations in parameters being monitored.
Power Machines Company has previously manufactured and supplied to the power plant a full set of spare parts and excitation system equipment sets for hydraulic units Nos. 6, 5, and 4 for the restoration of those hydraulic units that remained relatively undamaged after the accident at Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP. The Company has also, ahead of the contractual terms, supplied a new hydraulic generator and an excitation system equipment set required to replace the damaged generator of the hydraulic generator No. 3, which will be run at commercial load in December 2010. Hydraulic units Nos. 6 and 5 were restored and put into service ahead of the schedule – in February-March 2010. In compliance with the Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP restoration program approved by the RF Ministry of Energy, the hydraulic unit No. 4 was launched on August 2, 2010.
