Forty-one teams from ten Russian cities will participate in the first technical championship of Power Machines

On May 17, 2018 the technical championship, "Power of the Future", began. It is Power Machines' large-scale educational project for engineering students from Russia's institutions of higher education. Forty-one teams from 16 institutions of higher education applied to participate. The competition for the championship will take place in several stages, and the winners will be announced in October 2018.

Under the rules of the championship, each team must solve a technical problem, which has been prepared by the experts in Power Machines' design unit. The teams must tackle several aspects of the problem: steam turbines, hydraulic turbines, boiler equipment, electrical machines, electric drives, and complete systems.

Anna L'vova, Power Machines' Personnel Director, states, "The task of the participants is to understand the problem and explore possible solutions, which will be judged by a technical commission consisting of representatives of Power Machines' engineering divisions.   The solutions will be evaluated according to these criteria: their manufacturability, the level of design development, originality, the depth of problem exploration, and the quality of the presentation".

The team members that take first place will receive valuable prizes, an invitation to work as paid interns in the subdivisions of Power Machines, the possibility to write their graduate research projects under the guidance of a company expert, and the chance to be auditors at Power Machines' conference of young specialists in November 2018.

The second- and third-place teams will receive the opportunity to go through training or work as paid interns and to write their graduate research projects under the guidance of a Power Machines' representative.
