The construction personnel of the Nizhne-Bureyskaya HPP, being erected by RusHydro in the Amur Region, completed installation of the key elements of the hydroelectric unit of the plant. The runner of the turbine as well as the stator and rotor of the hydrogenerator manufactured by Power Machines have been installed in place.
The Nizhne-Bureyskaya HPP will have four hydroelectric units of capacity 80 MW each, installed. The hydro electric unit consists of the adjustable blade turbine and the hydrogenerator produced by the Power Machines plants.
The six-blade runner of the turbine, weighing 96 tons, was placed into the crater of the hydroelectric unit in June 2016. The hydro turbine is typified by its state-of-the-art design allowing it to effectively operate within a broad range of heads and also preventing oil from leaking into water.
Installation of the stator and the rotor of the generator proceeded in two phases. Initially installation of the stator was erected followed up by high voltage tests of its winding to check out the quality of installation. Following that, the rotor was successfully placed into the crater which took two hours.
“The rotor is the heaviest part of the unit (320 tons), which has a great moment of inertia used to smoothen out the frequency of the alternating current generated by the unit.” – Nikolay Surta, Executive Director of the contractor organization OOO Enisey-Spetshydroenergomontazh, commented on the event. – “Therefore, the more thorough we are about the installation, the lesser tolerances we manage to maintain, the better the unit will perform, going forward.”
